The Suwannee River Valley, a prominent geographical feature of Florida, serves as a demarcation point, separating the region that has always been part of the North American Plate from the part that was once part of Africa. This corridor is adorned with an abundance of captivating rural roads and picturesque springs sourced from the Floridan Aquifer. As is customary, the long loop route takes you to MM 55, where you can take a refreshing dip in Charles’ Spring. This year, we’ve introduced a shorter route that offers more opportunities to explore the springs. Join us on this adventure, where you can surf through breathtaking dirt roads and then cool off in equally stunning springs. The distance on the long loop is 68, and the shorter loop is 48.
This ride is party-paced, low-pressure, and offers a choose-your-own-adventure experience. The majority of the terrain on all these rides is limestone roads or hardpack dirt.
Once you’re registered for the ride, you’ll receive a link to an RWGPS event a few weeks before the ride. Follow the simple steps to drop the route directly into your app under the “My Events” tab. This feature allows you to use the app for navigation or export the GPX file to load directly into your preferred unit without additional subscriptions or membership costs.
Please note that this is an unsupported ride, so there will be no support vehicles or sag wagons.
Before you ride, make sure to check the weather forecast.
Let someone know your destination and expected return time.
Most importantly, have fun!
I hope you join us for the last of our Summer Gravel Grind Series!!!
